Currency Issuance and Management
Issue and regulate Sudanese banknotes and coins in accordance with the Currency Board Law.
Ensure all currency in circulation is fully backed by approved reserve assets.
Maintain confidence in the national currency through prudent monetary discipline.
Oversee currency design, printing, distribution, and anti-counterfeiting measures.
Reserve Asset Management
Maintain adequate foreign exchange and reserve assets to support the fixed exchange framework.
Manage reserve portfolios with a focus on liquidity, security, and stability.
Ensure transparent reporting and auditing of reserve holdings.
Safeguard national monetary assets against financial and market risks.
Exchange Rate Stability
Maintain the fixed exchange rate arrangement established under the Currency Board framework.
Guarantee convertibility between the Sudanese currency and designated reserve currencies.
Support exchange rate predictability to facilitate trade, investment, and economic confidence.
Monitor foreign exchange market developments and external monetary conditions.
Financial System Confidence
Promote trust and stability in Sudan’s monetary and financial systems.
Coordinate with financial institutions and payment system operators to ensure liquidity and operational continuity.
Support the development of efficient payment and settlement systems.
Contribute to financial sector resilience through institutional oversight and cooperation.
Monetary Governance and Compliance
Operate independently under a rules-based legal and regulatory framework.
Ensure compliance with reserve coverage and monetary discipline requirements.
Publish periodic financial statements, reserve reports, and operational updates.
Maintain strong governance, transparency, and accountability standards.
Research, Statistics, and Economic Monitoring
Conduct economic and monetary research to support institutional planning and policy coordination.
Monitor inflation, exchange rates, reserve adequacy, and macroeconomic indicators.
Publish monetary statistics and analytical reports for public and institutional use.
Support evidence-based decision-making through data and financial analysis.
